Today's theme is talent. Everyone has a talent, some people are still looking for that specific talent that they might excel at, but that's the thing with talent, it doesn't always come easily or naturally.

Athletes, actors, artists, and all kinds of celebrities are brought to our attention every day. These people have generally become successful because they are very talented at what they do. Do you think that this came easily for them? In most cases, probably not. These people that we see in the magazines had to start somewhere and work their way up. It took time, dedication, patience, and practice. Think about your talents, did you do everything perfectly the first time you attempted this task? Odds are you might have done well, but you have improved from the first time you tried. For example, I have found a talent in photography. Have I always been confident in my photographs? Not exactly, but I found a passion in it and a desire to improve. Because of this desire, I have decided to challenge myself in different ways to improve my photography and keep growing and I think that is what is the most important. Talent doesn't have to be "natural". The best reward is working hard at something and finally achieving that goal you have been trying to reach. When you don't have to work for something you begin to take it for granted.

Over Lent we can relate "talent" to the season in a few ways:

1 - God has some serious talent! Have you seen the world around us? Have you talked to other people he has placed on this Earth? Have you took the time to try to understand how God thought of EVERYTHING? If you haven't I highly encourage you to go outside and take a look around. Especially as we transition into spring, pay attention to the beauty around you. This world is filled with color, textures, and all kinds of things that together create true beauty.

2 - We have talents! Take the time to thank God for what He has blessed you with. Those talents that you have are all thanks to God. Yes, you probably worked hard to aqire them, but God brought them into your life and helped you along the way as you were working to improve.

3 - Being faithful is kind of like having a talent. It is something that we might have, but the only way to improve or grow is to practice. Throughtout Lent we should be working to grow in our faith. It may not always be easy, but it is possible. By taking the time to pray, attend mass, and ask for forgiveness we are already taking steps to become closer to God.

I chose this photo today because I am blessed enough to live close to Sedona, Arizona. It is not hard to appreciate the beauty that the red rock provides in the area. It is something beautiful and majestic that God created. God is talented and his talent is visible all around us, we just need to be able to open our eyes and truly appreciate it to the fullest.
