Today's photo has a theme of witness. A witness is someone who encountered something and can give proof that something happened. This is an important word for us as Catholics because we are all witnesses. We may not have been present during the time that Jesus was, but we can still act as proof that there is a God and that Jesus gave his life for us. Yes, it is difficult to prove to people that these things are true because it does require faith, but we know it to be true. Everyone of us has encountered God in our lives at some point. Whether it be through prayer, the world around us, or the people we are surrounded by, each of us has encountered God, because He is in all of us. We are the witnesses that God has called upon to spread the word to others.
Being a witness is a big responsibility. Our word is what other people come to believe so we must make sure we are telling the truth and have our facts straight. Over these next weeks of Lent it is important to be refreshing our knowledge of the faith and of God. If we are not fully educated, then we cannot provide the proper information to those around us. As witnesses we need to stay true to ourselves, the truth, and the way that God leads us so that other people can come to find God as well.
The photo for today included a magnifying glass. I decided to use this photo because as a witness we must take a closer look at the facts and make sure we have everything straight. Sometimes you do not notice God until you get closer and pay attention to more detail. A lot of the time it is the small things that teach us the most and lead us the closest to God. The best way to complete our job, as witnesses, is by making sure that we are dedicated to learning, growing, and knowing. We must dig a little deeper and move a little closer toward God every day.
