Day 21 - PENITENTIAL

The theme for the photo today is "penitential". Our penitential rite, or confession, is a difficult but necessary part of Lent. Acknowledging our sins is not something that we look forward to doing. It is not easy to look at our faults, it is so much nicer to just forget about them. During Lent it is important to prepare for Jesus' resurection and one of the most important things to do is wipe away our sins and anything that may be weighing us down.

The photo I have chosen today shows a constrast between dark and light. This is exactly what happens when we go to confession. Before we confess Jesus light is dim and hard to see, but after we repent we have a fresh slate. The light of God can shine through at its full potential and we are ready to live our lives in preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ.
