Day 30 - ENDURANCE

The theme for the photo today is "endurance". Athletes know what endurance is...but what does it mean to have endurance in your faith?

When I think of endurance I think of running a race. I imagine a person having the ability to push themselves for long distances or for a long period of time. If you have ever tried to run a race or exert your body for an extended period of time, then you know that this ability doesn't come naturally. It takes time, effort, determination, and lots of training. This is where I find the connection between endurance and the faith. In order to deepen our faith we must be dedicated and "train" to make our faith stronger. If you are training for a marathon you go for a run or do some type of workout every day. While it is a daily commitment, some days are more rigorous than others. This being said, in order to strengthen our relationship with God, we must work on it every day. A similar "work out" can be applied. Maybe some days you will just say a quick prayer while other days you make a point to volunteer, attend daily mass, go to confession, or just do some reserach about the faith. It might not be easy, but is anything worth while ever easily to acheive?

The road to great endurance may take time, and it may not be noticable right away, but when you look back from the finish line at what you accomplished you will be filled with pride. In these last few weeks of Lent map out a plan to increase your "endurance" in the faith. I'm sure at this point people are starting to lose steam on their Lenten promises...so let's relight the fire keep pushing ourselves towards new heights.
